What to do in Luxembourg City at the weekend?

Our weekend playbook for Luxembourg City: markets, walks, brunch, nightlife — without the tourist traps.

What to do in Luxembourg City at the weekend?

Luxembourg City is best discovered in two days, mixing walking, viewpoints and good places to eat. Here's our local-tested playbook.

Saturday morning: markets and the corniche

Start with the twice-weekly market on Place Guillaume II (Wednesday and Saturday mornings). Continue along the corniche for the Grund view. Allow two hours.

Saturday lunch: brasserie

For a walk-in lunch after 2 PM, head to a non-stop-service brasserie. Komptoir, on Place de Paris, serves from 9:30 AM to 11 PM continuously — handy if you're wandering around town.

Saturday afternoon: museums or Pétrusse

Depending on weather: MUDAM (contemporary art) or down into the Pétrusse valley, redesigned as a public park in 2024.

Saturday night: out

Options vary by energy level. For lively nights right by the station, Komptoir programmes DJ sets every Friday and Saturday from 10 PM, free entry. For something quieter, the Clausen district has more relaxed cocktail bars.

Sunday: brunch and walks

Sunday brunch is a Luxembourg institution. Several venues serve until 2 PM. Follow with a walk in the city park or a drive to Echternach if you have a car.

If you're around on Sunday night

Many venues close, but some brasseries stay open. Komptoir serves until 11 PM on Sunday and runs After Shift from 10 PM, dedicated to Luxembourg HoReCa industry professionals.
